Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design allows them to be maneuvered easily even in tight areas.
If pushchair 3 wheels are looking for a smooth ride with your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels that can swivel. However, they are prone to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with an repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies, that emblem of the noughties, which were more expensive than common sense, are in steep decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers that are able to handle a wider range of terrain, while still looking elegant and easy to push.
The bigger the wheels are the more your buggy will be able to deal with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front allow you to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with a newborn baby and a 3-year-old child and found it very sturdy. It was able to withstand cobbles, grass and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was solid to push and very solid on difficult terrain. The tyres, that are inflatable and need to be pumped up regularly, have built-in suspension. This was extremely comfortable for my kids.
The size and shape of the seat is a further factor to consider. The seat should be large enough for your child to feel comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies have an option to lie flat completely while others will only allow the parent to be facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road or walking in muddy areas. The buggy can be used as a single from birth and then adapts to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth until age 4 and includes a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a large padded seat. The storage options are good as well, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets inside the hood and an easy-to-access pouch on the back of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels give your buggy greater stability when driving over rough terrain. This is perfect for buggies designed for off-road use. In addition, they make it easier to manoeuvre the pushchair in tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have rotating front wheels that assist you in maneuvering around corners with ease, whereas others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability with which they can be driven. This is also useful if you bump against a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will lift slightly to prevent hitting it.
Many 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres which allow them to tackle a broad range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They're also lighter. However, they're prone to punctures, so you'll need to keep a repair kit, spare tube, and pump on hand.
Our top three-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on grass, gravel tracks and market town cobbles" and are able to effortlessly move up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension system which in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".

The downside of having bigger wheels is that they can make some buggies quite wide and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This is an issue especially if you're using it to a jogger or you need to be able to get through doorways that are narrow when you're out and about. Fortunately, many models come with compact folding options that let you remove the front wheels to create more compact storage.
Easy to Manoeuvre
One of the main benefits of a three-wheel buggy is that it is much easier to maneuver especially with a child on the way. 3 wheeler pushchair are built means that the front wheels rotate on a dime and are really easy to manoeuvre, making them ideal for tricky terrain like cobbles, parks and bumpy pavements as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her infant and toddler and wrote: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the ground, with the swivel front wheel being particularly helpful. I was also amazed by how well it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. I found it to be extremely stable when driving downhill or on uneven ground."
The only drawback of this great maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy's bigger wheels sometimes mean that it can struggle in tight spaces, something to consider when you live in a city region. If this is a problem then a four-wheeled buggy might be the better choice for you.
